ReLoop — waste prevention through reuse

ReLoopGive useful things a second life.

Usable items are often thrown away simply because their owner no longer needs them — wasting their remaining useful life and adding to the waste problem. ReLoop helps you list them for FREE or EXCHANGE so a neighbour can give them another life, and guides you to repair, recycle or dispose responsibly when reuse isn't possible.

How ReLoop works

Four simple steps that keep usable things out of bins, drains and dumps — and help a neighbour at the same time.

  1. 1

    Before you throw it away

If an item is still usable, list it instead of discarding it. Every reused item is one less thing burned, dumped or buried.

  2. 2

    Reuse before buying new

Looking for something? Check existing usable items nearby first — someone may already have what you need.

  3. 3

    Give it another life

Offer it FREE or arrange an EXCHANGE. Meet locally, hand over safely, and both sides confirm so the record is real.

  4. 4

    Manage waste responsibly

When reuse isn't possible: repair, recycle through the right stream, or use designated collection points for hazardous items.

Plain cardboard boxes ready for reuse

Cardboard boxes

Sturdy boxes help neighbours who are moving or storing things. Flatten and keep them dry; greasy or food-soiled cardboard often can't be recycled.

Clean plastic containers

Rinsed containers can store parts, seeds or craft supplies. Never reuse containers that held chemicals for food or play.

Clothes & textiles

Wearable clothes can be swapped or donated. Small tears and loose buttons are quick repairs; unwearable fabric can become cleaning rags.

Small furniture

A solid chair or shelf deserves a second home. List it with an honest condition note and let someone nearby collect it.

Headphones, a keyboard and a mouse — electronics that can be repaired or passed on

Electronics — only when safe

Working devices can be passed on after wiping personal data. Damaged electronics and loose batteries are a fire risk: use an official e-waste collection point, never the household bin.

What can you do today?

Small, concrete habits that keep pollution out of the air, soil and water.

  • Rinse and sort containers the way your local collection service asks — rules differ between areas.
  • Reuse jars and boxes at home before recycling them.
  • Try repairing before replacing: a loose screw, a new zip, a fresh plug often solves it.
  • Keep batteries, paint, chemicals, medicines and e-waste separate, and use designated collection points.
  • Never burn rubbish — smoke from burning plastic and mixed waste is toxic.
  • Never dump waste in drains, streams or empty plots — it blocks drainage and poisons water.
